The IIHF was made aware of media reports concerning the prolongation of the IIHF World Junior Championship marketing contract as of 2022.
Currently we are in final discussions covering the long-term organization and marketing optimization plans for this top international junior ice hockey tournament. This requires a strong commitment and detailed plans for event organizers, broadcasters, and sponsors.
The IIHF Council will aim to finalize the prolongation agreement plan in March 2018 and present it to Congress in May 2018.
“We are happy to have a long-term vision for this event,” said IIHF President René Fasel. “We are confident that this plan will be well-received and supported by our membership.”
The next confirmed IIHF World Junior Championships:
2018/2019: Canada, Vancouver & Victoria
2019/2020: Czech Republic, cities to be announced
2020/2021: Canada, cities to be announced
