A classic in quarter-finals

The quarter-finals of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship are set. After Latvia beat host Denmark 1-0 to become the last quarter-finalists, the eight teams and pairings have become known. The top-four teams of each group are qualified for a cross-over quarter-final round and the top-two teams of each group will stay at their venue in Copenhagen or Herning respectively while the other teams will travel tomorrow.

The quarter-final include a Russia-Canada classic on Thursday afternoon in Copenhagen while the United States will play the Czech Republic in Herning also at 16:15. In the evening Sweden and Latvia will play a Baltic Sea clash not far away from home - especially for Swedish fans as the third-largest city of Malmo is just a 20-minute train ride from the Royal Arena in Malmo. At the Jyske Bank Boxen the evening game will be Finland vs. Switzerland also at 20:15.

Quarter-Finals on 17 May 2018

In Copenhagen:
Russia vs. Canada 16:15
Sweden vs. Latvia 20:15

In Herning:
USA vs. Czech Republic 16:15
Finland vs. Switzerland 20:15

Semi-Finals on 19 May 2018

SWE/LAT vs. USA/CZE
FIN/SUI vs. RUS/CAN

Both semi-finals and medal games will be played in Copenhagen. The time slots for the semi-finals will be known after the quarter-finals and be published on IIHF.com
